Radiological Health Program

The Radiological Health Program is mandated by Title 10 GCA, Chapter 31 (Radiological Health) to institute and maintain a regulatory program for sources of radiation that is compatible with standards and regulatory programs of the Federal government, and to permit the development and utilization of sources of ionizing radiation for peaceful purposes consistent with the health and safety of the public. “Ionizing radiation” means gamma rays and x-rays, beta particles, alpha particles, and high-speed nuclear particles.

The Radiological Health Program is responsible for conducting inspections and investigations of private or public property that may contain any sources of ionizing radiation.
