population have diabetes and is increasing exponentially.
Diabetes Mellitus is the most common endocrine disease.
The
true frequency is difficult to ascertain
because of differing standards of diagnosis but probably
is about 1-2 percent of the U.S. population. The
prevalence of diabetes is estimated to be about 9.0 and
has been ranked the
6th leading cause of death on
Guam.
