Chronic Disease Prevention Progress
The Bureau of Non-Communicable Disease works to reduce chronic diseases in Guam by promoting prevention, early detection, and healthier lifestyles. Key areas include diabetes, tobacco, and cancer. By 2026, DPHSS launched workshops for diabetes self-management. As of 2024, diabetes rates remain stable, while smoking rates are declining across adults and youth.
Guam Health Planning Initiatives
The Bureau advanced the Guam Noncommunicable Disease Prevention and Control 2025 - 2030 Strategic Plan and the Guam Comprehensive Cancer Control 2025 - 2030 Plan, both scheduled for release in 2026 to help guide future public health priorities, prevention strategies, and community action across Guam.
Pacific Monitoring Alliance for NDC Action
On May 28, 2026, thirty three stakeholders representing ten organizations convened to review Guam’s progress under the Pacific Monitoring Alliance for Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Action framework, supporting regional reporting, partnership development, and data informed decision making across the Pacific.
