Division of Public Health (DPH)

The Division of Public Health works everyday to preserve, promote, and improve the health and well-being of our island community.

Together with our programs and partners, we prevent disease, respond to threats and build a stronger, healthier Guam for all.

How We Serve

CHIEF PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICE

Coordinates the activities of different sections and bureaus in order to maximize limited resources, both federal and local, and to meet the approximately seventy-two mandates of the division.

OFFICE OF EPIDEMIOLOGY & RESEARCH

Advancing the health security of Guam through public health intelligence, epidemiologic surveillance, and evidence-based action.

OFFICE OF VITAL STATISTICS

Custodian of vital records such as birth, death, and marriage certificates, adoption and marriage licenses.

GUAM PUBLIC HEALTH LABORATORY

Identifies diseases of public health concern, and provide laboratory services to identify, treat and control tuberculosis, Hansen’s Disease, HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases, vaccine preventable diseases, and the provision of maternal child health and family planning services.

BUREAU OF ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE

Manages the Medical Cannabis Program which allows the beneficial use of medical cannabis in a regulated system for alleviating symptoms caused by debilitating medical conditions and their medical treatment.

BUREAU OF COMMUNICABLE DISEASE CONTROL

Prepares, prevents, responds and controls the spread of diseases of public health concern in Guam through surveillance, disease reporting and investigation in collaboration with health care providers and key responders for a healthier island community.

BUREAU OF FAMILY HEALTH & NURSING SERVICES

Provides community health nursing services by synthesizing nursing practice and public health practices are to the underserved, indigent, and uninsured populations who are most in need of assistance and least able to find it.

BUREAU OF NON COMMUNICABLE DISEASE CONTROL

Dedicated to promoting and protecting the health of the people of Guam by preventing and controlling non-communicable diseases.

BUREAU OF NUTRITION SERVICES

Strives to improve health and well-being through nutrition education, promotion of physical activity, and engaging with partners to develop policies and environmental changes which reduce hunger, increase breastfeeding, and decrease obesity and its associated chronic diseases throughout Guam.

BUREAU OF PRIMARY CARE SERVICES

Aims to reduce health disparities by providing comprehensive primary health care to the underserved, indigent, and uninsured populations who are most in need of assistance and least able to find it.
