The STD/HIV Program of the Department of Public Health and Social Services is committed to preventing and reducing new STD and HIV infections on the island of Guam and providing the necessary and appropriate services to those who are infected and affected by STDs and HIV.  Below is an overview of our FREE and CONFIDENTIAL services:

  • HIV & STD TESTING

Getting yourself tested is the first step to knowing your status.

The STD/HIV Program provides testing for HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea (GC), Chlamydia (CT) and trichomoniasis. Currently, the program distributes self-collection kits for GC and CT; these tests involve the collection of either urine or vaginal swab specimens.

  • ONE-ON-ONE COUNSELING

Our trained counselors are available to assist you in your decision to get tested. Counseling sessions are client-oriented – everything discussed depends on your circumstances and your needs. Counselors always maintain a high degree of client privacy and confidentiality.

  • REFERRAL SERVICES

Should you seek additional services other than those our program provides, counselors will provide referrals to other organizations to assist you.

  • CONDOM DISTRIBUTION

The STD/HIV Program has condoms available for our clients and the rest of the community at our Mangilao and Dededo offices.  Through essential partnerships, we have established strategic condom distribution sites that include the WestCare Pacific Islands GUAHAN Project office at the Reflection Center in Hagatna, Guam’s Alternative Lifestyle Association office at the RK Plaza in Tamuning.

  • HEALTH EDUCATION

Our Program strives to keep the community informed about the ways you can prevent becoming infected with STDs/HIV and the importance of screening for HIV/STDs through our exclusive campaign, “Prutehi Hao!”.

Also, if your school or organization would like for us to help you with a health fair, outreach event, or special project related to STDs/HIV, please contact Vince Aguon at 735-7166 or email: vince.aguon@dphss.guam.gov.

For more information about our services, please contact the Guam AIDS Hotline at 734-2437 or visit our offices in Rm. 156 at the Mangilao or Dededo Public Health.
