Sanitary Permits

Overview

The Sanitary Permit Program helps protect public health and safety throughout Guam by regulating and monitoring businesses, facilities, and establishments that may affect public health, sanitation, food safety, and environmental health conditions.

Administered through the Division of Environmental Health (DEH) under the Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS), sanitary permits are required for various health-regulated establishments operating on Guam. These permits help ensure businesses and facilities comply with applicable public health laws, sanitation standards, and environmental health regulations.

The Sanitary Permit Program supports community wellness by promoting safe operating conditions, reducing health risks, and helping establishments maintain sanitary and health-compliant environments for employees, customers, and the general public.

What is a Sanitary Permit?

A sanitary permit is an official authorization issued by DPHSS Division of Environmental Health indicating that an establishment has met applicable sanitation, environmental health, and public health requirements necessary for operation.

Sanitary permits help verify that businesses and facilities operate in a manner that protects public health and complies with Guam’s health and sanitation regulations.

Businesses may be subject to inspections, compliance reviews, and ongoing monitoring as part of the permitting and renewal process.
