Mission

To prepare, prevent, respond and control the spread of diseases of public health concern in Guam through surveillance, disease reporting and investigation in collaboration with health care providers and key responders for a healthier island community.

Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity Program

The Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity Program builds capacity in epidemiology, laboratory and health information systems to improve detection, investigation and response to foodborne, communicable and emerging infectious diseases on Guam.

Foreign Quarantine/Enteric Disease Control Program

The Foreign Quarantine/Enteric Disease Control Program prevents the introduction, transmission, and spread of quarantinable diseases, as well as “communicable diseases of public health significance” into Guam.

Immunization Program

 

The Immunization Program prevents and controls transmission of vaccine-preventable diseases with particular emphasis on accelerating interventions to improve the immunization coverage of children less than 2 years old, adolescents, and high-risk adults.

Laboratory Services

The Laboratory Services identifies diseases of public health concern, and provide laboratory services to identify, treat and control tuberculosis, Hansen’s Disease, HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases, vaccine preventable diseases, and the provision of maternal child health and family planning services.

Pharmacy

The Pharmacy provides pharmaceutical services in support of public health programs to prevent, treat, cure, and mitigate ailments and diseases. DPHSS prescriptions only.

Public Health Emergency Preparedness Program

The Public Health Emergency Preparedness Program is responsible for enhancing public health preparedness for and response to bioterrorism, other outbreaks of infectious diseases and other public health emergencies and threats with goals to prevent, detect, report, investigate, control, recover and improve.

STD/HIV Prevention Program

STD/HIV Prevention Programprevents and controls the spread of HIV infection and sexually transmitted diseases by delivering high quality HIV/STD strategies in the jurisdiction.

Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program

Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program enhances access to and retention in high quality care and treatment for individuals living with HIV/AIDS who have insufficient or no health care coverage or financial resources for coping with HIV disease.

HIV Surveillance Program

HIV Surveillance Program provides an overview on the current epidemiology of HIV disease in the territory by collecting surveillance data on persons diagnosed with HIV infection; client level information is reported confidential by age, race, sex, and transmission category.

Tuberculosis/Hansen’s Disease Control Program

Tuberculosis/Hansen’s Disease Control Program prevents the spread of tuberculosis (TB) and Hansen’s Disease and eliminate it as a public health problem on Guam.

X-Ray Services

X-Ray Services provides chest X-ray services to all clients identified with active TB, TB suspects, contacts and those with Latent TB Infection.
